Performance created by the Slovenian Youth Group

The individuals from the group already collaborated on various art projects. We mostly found each other through our different views on the subject and the way we use art to express these different views.

We are all involved in voluntary work in different organisations dealing with youth involvement, cultural dialogue and workshops offering non-formal education. Therefore, the themes of this project touched us and were close and thematically understandable. Mostly, we tried to convey some of our opinions or views on various youth policy topics through written messages and posters that everyone could identify with.

The poster also helped us with people who didn’t speak the local language well, so we used lots of pictures. We also think that art can be a universal language for everyone.

Our final product is a film that focus mainly on sharing the personal experiences of young people coming from different cultural backgrounds, their needs and the demands of their environment.

We would also like to thank the DRPDNM, which has provided a lot of professional support and mentoring from youth workers, volunteers and social workers. Special thanks go to Filip, who with his excellent knowledge and expertise designed the whole film, and to Aljaž, who was a great host and helped all the participants to feel comfortable while filming and working together on this project. We would also like to thank all the participants who shared their experiences with us.

We feel that the most important focus of all the themes was on ensuring equal opportunities and equal treatment for all young people, which we promote every day in our volunteering work.

The aim of the film is to get first-hand information about the young people who know best how and in what ways to make the right changes to feel accepted, to feel heard, to offer a space where everyone can enjoy equal rights and freedoms.
